Ingredient Notes

Naan Flatbread - I use store-bought to make this meal quick and easy but you can always make your own (but cooking time will vary for homemade). Or, even use pita as a substitute. Use regular, garlic or even whole wheat naan for this recipe.

Cheese - Use a high quality cheese. I like Tillamook's thick cut shredded mozzarella but you can also grab a block and hand shred your own. Or, use fresh mozzarella or Italian blend.

Sauce - you can use any sauce you like. I'm using just a little bit (2-3 tablespoons) of pizza sauce to create a standard pepperoni pizza. But, you could use pesto, olive oil, bbq sauce, or roasted garlic olive oil. Also, go easy on the sauce as it can weight down the naan pizza and have it not crisp up as much.

Toppings - can be customized to your preference!

  • Meat Toppings - pepperoni, cooked sausage, cooked bacon (or turkey bacon), cooked ham (or Canadian bacon), cooked or leftover chicken
  • Vegetable Toppings - mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, pineapple, artichokes, olives
  • Finishing Toppings/Sauce - fresh basil, dry oregano, chili oil, pesto, ranch, sriracha, chili flakes, arugula, parmesan, balsamic glaze

Expert Tips

If you want to make your Naan Pizza extra crispy, after cooking for the first 3-5 minutes, flipping and cook it the other side with no sauce or toppings for another 2-4 minutes at 475°F (degrees Fahrenheit). Then, add on sauce, cheese, topping and air fry again. Cooking it for around 5 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are crispy.

Every air fryer model and toppings cooks a little different - You might need to add a few more minutes to get the pizza to your preferred texture if you’re cooking in a large oven style or toaster style air fryer. Also, some topping cook different than others, check on you naan pizza a few minutes before the timer ends.

Careful flying cheese and toppings! I like using thick cut cheese or fresh mozzarella as it doesn't fly around as much in the air fryer. Adding a little bit of shredded cheese on top of the pepperoni (or toppings of your choice) also helps keep the toppings from flying around. Alternative, you can check after 1 minute and carefully reset the topping(s). By then, usually the cheese is melted enough it acts like a glue to help the toppings stick better.

Timing will vary if you cook more than one naan pizza - Maybe you're cooking for two! Cooking the naan pizza back to back gets the air fryer pretty hot. I would check your timing a minute or two before to ensure it doesn't burn.

Caution Hot! This is probably pretty self explanatory but while flipping and adding your ingredients to your naan the air fryer will be hot. Be carefully your bare hands don't touch the side. You can use oven mitts or be extremely carefully when topping.

Recipe FAQ

Can I make this recipe gluten free?

In order to make this recipe gluten free, you’ll need to find a gluten free naan brand at your grocery store or prepare a homemade naan with gluten free flour. Also, use a gluten free sauce and toppings! Cooking time will potentially vary for gluten free naan.

Can I make this recipe in bulk?

Yes, you could but it will take a while to make as the air fryer can only make 1 serving at a time. I would suggest using an oven instead which is what I used for my Burrata Prosciutto and Arugula Flatbread and BLT Naan Flatbread.
