Messy, cheesy + delicious! This BLT Naan Flatbread is a perfect meal for two. Let's eat!

Updated December 2021 with more information. Updated December 2020 with process photos, ingredients photos, etc.

Delicious and messy are two words I would use to describe this BLT Naan Flatbread. You can make it as a fast meal for lunch or an early dinner. It has all the traditional flavors of a BLT with the addition of hot and melty mozzarella cheese and baked naan. This meal for two is seriously deliciously, while also being seriously messy. Let's dig in...

This Naan Flatbread has all the making of a good BLT. What could be better than layer upon layer of bacon, juicy tomato, crunchy lettuce, toasted bread, and of course silky smooth mayonnaise? So, why not instead of the traditional toasted bread we use a toasted store-bought naan flatbread. Instead of juicy sliced tomatoes, colorful cherry tomatoes, instead of slices of lettuce, use finely shredded lettuce with a creamy and simple mayo-sour cream dressing, and of course, lots of bacon pieces and hot melty cheese. Using store-bought naan flatbread found in the deli or bread section of your grocery store, you can throw together this BLT Naan Flatbread in no time.

Ingredient Notes

  • Naan Flatbread: I used store-bought to make this meal quick and easy but you can always make your own. Or, even use pita for as a substitute.
  • Bacon: use whatever cooking method you like the most! Microwave, oven or even in a pan. Use the microwave kind if you want easy clean-up.
  • Tomatoes: I like cherry tomato for their sweetness and how beautiful they look but you can use roma or whatever tomatoes you have on hand.
  • Mozzarella: Use a high quality cheese. I like Tillamook's thick cut but you can also grab a block and hand shred your own.
  • Mayo + Sour Cream: make our simple and deliciously creamy sauce. Use ranch in a pinch!

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F. Place naan flatbread on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Bake for 8 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. While the naan is cooking, mix sour cream, mayo, salt, and pepper together in a bowl and set aside.

The right photo '2' shows a BLT naan flatbread cooked on a white plated with shredded lettuce and a drizzle of sour cream-mayp.
  1. When the naan is removed after the first baking, pre-heat the oven to 525 degrees F. Place 1 cup of cheese on each naan piece and top with sliced tomatoes and bacon pieces. Bake for 5 minutes until cheese has melted then switch to broil setting and broil for 2-3 minutes until edges have browned and cheese is slightly boiling. Remove from the oven.
  2. Place hot naan flatbread onto a serving plate. Top with shredded lettuce and sauce (and leftover tomatoes and bacon pieces). Eat hot and enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Get good quality cheese! For this recipe, I suggest either buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself of using Tillamook's Mozzarella Shredded Cheese in the Farmstyle Thick Cut. It melts so well, and tastes really good and fresh. Some pre-grated cheese contains preservatives that help keep the shredded cheese from clumping but don't melt together well when cooking or baking. Another option is to get a block of cheese and grate it yourself with a grater.

Recipe FAQs

How can I make it extra crispy?

Bake the pizzas directly on the rack so the naan crisps up underneath. You can place a baking sheet on a rack below to catch the pizza drippings.
