Ingredient Notes
Flour: I always use all-purpose flour. Just make sure to measure the flour correctly. Check out my expert tips on how to properly measure flour.
Eggs - Whole large eggs to binds the cookie dough, add moisture, and adds richness. Make sure they are at room temperature.
Black Cocoa Powder - This is different than dark cocoa powder, and its key in getting the classic Oreo color and flavor. You can use my affiliate link and purchase some on Amazon.
Baking Soda + Baking Powder - Our leavening agents
Salt - salt brings out the flavor of the chocolate and create a more balanced cookie.
Unsalted Butter - I use unsalted so we can control the amount of salt. The butter adds richness and results in a delicious buttery cookie.
Granulated Sugar - the only sugar we need for cookie base
Vanilla Extract - use a pure vanilla extract for the best flavor
Oreos - use regular Oreos! You'll want 1 family-sized box for both the base and topping.
Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting
Cream Cheese - This also needs to be room temperature so that it will mix well. I recommend using block style cream cheese.
Unsalted Butter - Make sure that it is softened, that way when you mix it all together it will be nice and smooth.
Vanilla Extract - use a pure vanilla extract for the best flavor
Powdered Sugar - Also known as icing sugar. If your powdered sugar is super clumpy you might want to sift it to ensure the smoothing frosting possible.
Oreo Crumbs for topping - use regular Oreos! Additional, you can use mini Oreo cookies to top the cookies as pictured.

Expert Tips
Properly Measure Flour: If you just dip your measuring cup into a bag of flour, chances are you have way too much flour due to packing. I keep a small digital scale to accurately measure flour BUT you can also you the spoon and level method too if you don't have a scale. To do this, use a spoon to fluff up the flour within your flour bag or container. Then use a spoon to scoop the flour into the measuring cup and finally us the straight edge of a knife to level the flour across the measuring cup.
To keep cookies moist and chewy, store them in an airtight container in the fridge with a slice of bread.
Use Room Temperature Ingredients for Easy Mixing. Use room temperature eggs in the cookies and room temperature butter and cream cheese for the frosting for easy mixing/beating!
