Toasted Ravioli are one of my favorite appetizers! As a St. Louis native, I was fortunate enough to grow up eating these almost everywhere. Now, living in Denver, Colorado it's one of the dishes I miss most.

Toasted raviolis are a breaded and deep fried ravioli filled usually with ground beef and served as an appetizer. It's served with a side of marinara sauce and parmesan cheese and parsley on top. I'm lucky enough that my local King Sooper's sells them in the frozen section! Check your frozen section to grab a bag or box! Sometimes you can also find a cheese filled one for a vegetarian option.

These are super easy to make in the air fryer and you only need 4 ingredients for a super tasty and crispy appetizer. Plus, its ready in under 15 minutes!

If you’re looking for a delicious pasta to serve as a main dish, try my Baked Tortellini with Sausage.

Ingredients

Frozen Toasted Ravioli in Air Fryer Ingredients on a white marble background with red dark rectangle with white text in all caps
  • Frozen Toasted Ravioli: I use store bought frozen beef toasted ravioli but you can also use cheese. Just make sure that they are breaded and not the plain pasta.
  • Marinara: The most common sauce to serve with toasted ravioli. I use a good store bought version but you could also serve pesto for a more herbaceous choice or even chili oil for a little spice.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Topped right before serving. You could use pre-grated cheese or freshly grated cheese.
  • Parsley: Chopped for serving. Adds a nice pop of green.

Expert Tips

  • Don't Overlap/Overcrowd Toasted Ravioli: in the basket or they might not cook evenly. Placing too much food in the basket will prevent your food from crisping and browning.
  • All Air Fryers are Different: make sure to check your toasted ravioli occasionally until you reach your desired toastiness.
  • Shake the Basket During Cooking: you’ll want to shake the basket every few minutes to ensure the toasted ravioli cook evenly.
  • Making a large batch? When I tested this recipe I had about 15 toasted ravioli total in the basket. If you cook more than that, make sure to cook toasted ravioli in batches to ensure even cooking.

Recipe FAQ

What kind of air fryer do I use?

I have a Ninja 4qt Air Fryer. It's perfect for serving 1-2 people.

Do I need spray the basket with anything?

For this recipe, I didn't feel the need to spray my air fryer basket with oil or non-stick spray. Since the toasted ravioli are breaded they won't stick.

What should I serve with the toasted ravioli?

In St. Louis Toasted Ravioli are an appetizer usually served at sports bars or Italian restaurants. For a sauce, traditionally it's always marinara. But, you could definitely also serve with pesto or chili oil.
For dinner, you could go full Italian with a nice pasta (like my baked tortellini pasta with sausage), salad and garlic bread.

Followed the recipe. The Ravioli texture was more like a cracker. I am going to try and coat the ravioli with Parmesan, Garlic, and Parsley before cooking to see if that makes a difference. Also, I may cut down on the cook time.
    Great Potential

Frozen Cheese Ravioli - added oil to a bowl and tossed them in to coat. added Parmesan, Garlic, and Parsley. Air Fryer: 400 for 3 min and tossed and then 400 for 1 minute. Thanks for the recipe!
