Recipe Notes

  • How much wine do I need?
    • ½-1 CUP: Just make the Red Wine Chocolate Cake. You'll need ½ cup of red wine for any cake pan with a 6 cup capacity OR use 1 cup of red wine for a cake pan with a 12 cup capacity.
    • 1 & ½ - 2 CUPS: make the Red Wine Chocolate cake and the Strawberry Red Wine Sauce. The Strawberry Red Wine Sauce gives fruity sweetness.
  • What should I serve the cake with?
    • I like to serve the cake with my Strawberry Red Wine Sauce and mascarpone whipped cream (recipe provided in this post). But, you could also serve with normal whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or simply with powdered sugar.
  • What kind of red wine should I use?
    • Any leftover wine you have on hand. I've used cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir. Depending on the wine wine, you'll get slightly different flavor profiles.
  • What bundt pan did I use?
    • I used this beautiful Nordic Ware Charlotte Cake Pan that made a lovely 8-inch cake. The release was FLAWLESS.
  • Can I bake this without a bundt pan?
    • Yes, I baked this in a 9x9 square baking pan at 350°F for 40-45 minutes and until a wooden skewer comes out clean or with few crumbs.
