Why You'll Love this Recipe

  • A twist on a nostalgic classic
  • Ready in minutes
  • Only 2 ingredients

Ingredients

A jar of cookie butter and a jar of coconut oil. Each is labeled with a dark red box with white text in all caps.

Ingredient Notes

  • Coconut Oil: Needs to be refined to ensure there is no coconut flavor. This is how the magic happens. Coconut oil is in a solid phase but when heated it melts to a liquid.
  • Cookie Butter: also called Biscoff spread. Has lots of warm delicious spices.

Expert Tips

  • Refined Coconut Oil is Key: which has a neutral flavor. Unrefined coconut oil will give your Magic Shell a stronger coconut aroma and taste.
  • Magic Shell isn't just for Ice Cream: while this recipe is made for ice cream and sundaes! Don't limit this recipe to just ice cream. Drizzle this on bananas or sliced apples, coat a fudge bar, drizzled on cheesecake, just to name a few other ideas. It will take longer for the sauce to solidify if the item is room temperature vs cold just fyi.

Recipe FAQ

How long does homemade magic shell last?

Homemade cookie butter magic shell will last for months at room temperature. If at any time it becomes too solid to serve or the chocolate and coconut oil separate, place the sealed container in a bowl of hot water to re-melt the mixture. Then, give it a quick stir, & serve!
